How tracking actually works

When you choose or drop a video into Tape to Turf, it stays on your device. It's played back and analyzed frame-by-frame directly inside your browser, using an on-device AI model (Google's MediaPipe pose tracker) that identifies joint positions — shoulders, hips, elbows, wrists, knees — in each frame. All of that computation happens locally, in your browser's memory. Your video file itself is never sent over the network to us or to anyone else.

What we actually save

Once you hit "Finish & Analyze," we save the results of that on-device tracking to your account so you can review it later in your History:

• The computed scores and metrics (e.g. hip-shoulder separation, elbow extension, hand speed at contact).
• A single small freeze-frame image, captured at the detected key moment (contact, release, or field), with a pose-tracking overlay drawn on it. This is one still image, not video footage.

That's it — no video clip, and no other frames, are ever stored. Once you close or navigate away from the tracking screen, the original video file is gone from memory unless you upload it again.

The pose-tracking model

Pose tracking runs on Google's open-source MediaPipe library, licensed for exactly this kind of commercial use. Your browser downloads the tracking model itself from Google's servers (the same as loading any other resource on a webpage) — but your video and the frames extracted from it are never sent to Google, or anywhere else. The model runs entirely inside your own browser.

Team-tier submissions

On the Team plan, a coach can attach a player's name to a submission so their history can be filtered by player. That name, plus the same scores and single freeze-frame described above, is what gets stored — never video.

Deleting your history

You can request deletion of your saved analyses (scores and freeze-frames) at any time through the Contact page.
